In order to enable us to restrict the number of partcipants on our walking tours to a sensible and manageable number we ask you to book in advance for our walk.
This way we can allocate sufficient guides to a tour to enable us to keep the number of participants to what we know our guides can comfortably handle, i.e. around 34 people per guide.
Since we limit the numbers on our Jack the Ripper Tours we ask you to book in advance. By knowing how many people we have on the tour we can allocate the correct number of guides and ensure that we keep the number of participants on each of our walks to a sensible and manageable number.
Full payment for your tour is required at the time of booking.
We accept all major credit and debit cards.
Payment is made through PayPal which is one of the most trusted names when it comes to online security. We don's actually receive any of your payment details but, rather, we just receive a notification that your payment has been received.
You will receive an automated response from us confirming the date you have booked the Jack the Ripper tour for and the number of places you have booked.
If you haven't received this automated confirmation within an hour of making your booking please check your spam folder. If you still have not received it please call us on 020 8530-8443 and we'll be happy to re-send it.
This confirmation will also include detailed directions concerning the meeting point for your tour and an emergency phone number that you can call should you encounter any problems getting to or finding the number.
Once your booking has been made your name goes on to the guest list for the date you have booked for.
You don't need to bring any paper work with you as your name will be on the list for that night's tour, although we do suggest that you bring the meeting point details with you.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive at the designated departure point for the tour at the correct time. We regret that we are unable to wait for latecomers and the tour will depart prompt on 7pm, the advertised start time.
Please ensure that you allow sufficient time to travel to the start point, which is outside Exit Four of Aldgate East Underground Station.
The guide will phone the office prior to departure and will notify us of any no-shows. We will then phone you (providing you have given us a mobile phone number) to offer assistance should you be encountering any problems.
However, we stress again that it is your responsibility to get to the start point at the required time and we accept no liability, nor will we issue a refund, should you miss the tour because you arrived late.
Our Jack the Ripper walk will take place no matter what the weather is doing. We go rain, shine, fog or snow.
If it is raining, or if bad weather is forecast, please ensure that you dress accordingly and you bring adequate wet weather wear.
The walk will take place in all weathers and we ask you to take note of this at the time of booking as inclement weather is no reason for your cancelling the tour.
We reserve the right to amend all or any part of the walk should circumstances dictate.
Although changes are rare, it can happen from time to time that road works, or even road closures, in the area might result in the guide having to take an altered route.
As this is a public tour in the streets of the East End we ask that you don't bring any alcohol with you to consume as you make your way around.
There are parts of the route where it is against the local bylaws to drink alcohol in the streets and those caught doing so by law enforcement officers could find themselves subjected to a hefty fine.
Tour participants are responsibly for their own personal safety at all times on the tour and especially when crossing roads.
Our guides will always wait and ensure that every member of the group has crossed a road before continuing with the tour so there is no need to rush and put yourself in danger.
In the highly unlikely event that we have to cancel a tour we will either email or phone to let you know that the tour will not be taking place. In this case we will offer you the options of either switching to another night or receiving a full refund of any monies you have paid to us.
Should you wish to cancel a booking we are happy to switch you to another night or, providing you give us adequate notice of more than 24 hours, issue a full refund, less a 10% administrative fee.
Should you cancel with less than 24 hours notice we will endeavour to re-sell your places and will only issue a refund if we are successful in doing so.
No refunds can be issued if you simply fail to turn up for the walk.
If you have booked a large group of 8 or more people onto the tour we will require at least 72 hours notice should you wish to cancel. If you give less than 72 hours we will attempt to re-sell your places and will only issue a refund should we do so successfully.
We do not recommend the tour for children under the age of 14. This is because the walk deals with adult themes concerning murder and Victorian prostitution.
However, this is merely a recommendation and we leave it to parental discretion as to whether or not you think the tour and its themes are suitable for your children.
